About Foister Farm
Boutique Beef At Its Best!
Over the years the Foister family name has been synonymous with three things: farming, construction, and barbeque. The generations of our family that have been farmers dates back to further than we can research; however, we are intimately familiar with the last four generations beginning with Norward Foister, then Donnie Foister, then Ron Foister, and most recently Jesse Foister. While Ron and Jesse have worked most of their careers in construction, Donnie has kept close ties to the farming community by working in the livestock feed business (Flint River Mills – FRM) for over 45 years all-the-while maintaining a farm on the side. If you live anywhere near Vada, Georgia, you have certainly heard about the Foister Family Barbeques. This Christmas Eve open-pit tradition has been going on since Norward started it in the mid-1950s. He started it as an appreciation dinner for his construction clients as well as “folks that just didn’t have any other family to be with on Christmas Eve”. This tradition still continues today. This expertise led another Foister brother – Randall – to open a successful barbeque restaurant (Foister’s Barbeque) which was located adjacent to the Northeast corner of the Foister Farm for over a decade until his untimely passing in 2014. As time moves on, Donnie has now retired from FRM in the Spring of 2020 to focus full-time on the Foister Farm. Ron oversees the marketing and processing assignments of their freezer beef operation and Jesse has recently moved to the family farm to learn the ropes with the hope of one day being the next generation of Foisters to head their farming operation and carry on their family tradition.
